Katra to Bhawan: 13 km trek, yatra parchi, helicopter to Sanjichhat, Ardhkuwari and Bhairon temple.
Best time to visit
Year-round. March–June and September–November are most comfortable; Navratri draws the largest crowds.
Yatra parchi
Free registration slip (yatra parchi) from the Shrine Board counter at Katra or online is mandatory; it must be shown at Banganga within 6 hours.
Tips
- Cloakrooms at Bhawan for belongings; no leather items inside
- Free bhojanalaya (langar) at Bhawan and en route
- Visit Bhairon Temple (2 km above Bhawan) via ropeway to complete the yatra
How to reach & route tips
Reach Katra: Jammu airport (48 km) or direct trains to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra station.
Trek: 13 km paved path via Banganga → Charan Paduka → Ardhkuwari → Sanjichhat → Bhawan. Battery cars run Ardhkuwari–Bhawan.
Helicopter: Katra to Sanjichhat (8 min), then 2.5 km walk.
